Tiki came to the Haven on 10 August 2014. He went into foster with Pepe.
He is a little ball of energy, acting like a tough guy, showing his teeth, growling and barking, just wanting you to play with him. Running around the yard at lightning speed, he will often tumble because of a deformed front leg. Never bothered by this, he gets up and continues on at full speed. Neurological damage to his hind legs give him a funny gait; hence, his foster parents refer to him as “our little drunken Chihuahua.” Tiki is very vocal if he can’t sit on their laps while watching TV, at the computer, riding in the car, or if they move their feet or legs and disturb him when he’s sleeping under the covers. He rides in his car seat every morning on a coffee run to McDonalds and yaps all the way there because he hasn’t yet learned that he has to be in the car seat while in the car. Spoiled a little? Unless for safety reasons, they’re quite happy to indulge him most of the time.
Here is what his Foster Mom had to say about him;
Tiki is a little ball of energy even at 12 yrs. old. He acts like a tough
guy, shows his teeth, growls & barks but really just wants you to play with
him. He runs like around the yard at lightning speed and because of a
deformed front leg will often tumble which never bothers him and he
continues on at full speed. Because of some neurological damage his hind
legs give him a funny gait so we call him our little drunken Chihuahua
He loves to sit on my lap while on the computer or watching TV and if I
don’t pick him up he becomes very vocal until he gets his way. He sleeps
under the covers on my bed and gets quite annoyed if I move my feet or legs
and disturb him. You can call him “spoiled” and we are alright with that.
He now has a riding seat in my car so now joins Pepe & me on our morning
coffee run to McDonalds, he is not very happy about staying in his riding
seat and yaps at me all the way there and back, I think he will eventually
learn that he has to stay there if he wants to come along in the car, but
right now he is letting me know that he would prefer to ride on my lap, but
that is one thing I will not give in to, even though he often gets his way
around me.
